Entry Requirements to Study at Maynooth University, Ireland (MU)

General entry requirements (exact requirements may vary from course to course)

Postgraduate Courses: At least 60% in Bachelors (we recommend 65% +) or CGPA of 7.5 or higher (on a scale of 10). IELTS: 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each module (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score)

Undergraduate Courses (after 12th): 85% or higher for most courses (IBDP: 36 predicted or higher). IELTS: 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each module (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score)

Maynooth University offers a range of scholarships for Indian students. Scholarships are upto 100% of the tuition fee. We encourage students to apply for MU scholarship as early as possible. Several of Maynooth University, Ireland (MU) scholarships for Indian students are listed below:

Michael Osborne Equine Business Scholarships: These scholarships are automatically awarded and honour the memory of Michael Osborne, and his immense contribution to the Irish and international horse-racing industry and those students who are enrolled with the Equine Business degree program are eligible to apply. The scholarship lasts for the duration of the undergraduate studies (three years).

MU Sports Scholarships: Scholarship funding assists undergraduate or postgraduate students with sports and university-related expenses (e.g. sporting equipment, travel costs associated with sport) and covers sports like soccer, golf, rugby, snooker and others.

Music Scholarships for Second year Students: The Head of the Maynooth University Ireland (MU) Music Department awards one undergraduate music scholar each year. This scholarship is for current Music students and is based on their year-end results.

MU Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disability: The scholarship is valued at a maximum of €2,000 for the academic year. The scholarship is open to entrant undergraduate students with a significant disability who are experiencing financial difficulties. Subject to satisfactory progress it may be renewed for a further two years.​

Taught Masters Alumni Scholarships: These postgraduate scholarships for Masters study are funded with the support of the Maynooth University Ireland (MU) Alumni Affinity Card and provide graduates of Maynooth University Ireland (MU) (including the graduating class of 2019) with a €5,000 scholarship towards fees for a full-time Taught Masters programme at Maynooth University Ireland (MU).  A minimum 65% honours level 8 undergraduate degree result and a personal statement is required.

Taught Masters Scholarships: Offering €2,000 cash in recognition of academic excellence, a minimum requirement for a final overall undergraduate honours BA/BSc result of 2.1 or equivalent is required.

University Higher Education Scholarship for Adult Learners:
University’s scholarships provide multi-annual financial support for recipients to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree for the first time in participating third level institutions in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.  Scholarships can be any subject area and will be tailored to recipients’ financial circumstances to cover some or all of the direct and indirect costs associated with higher education.

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships: The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships are open to students from outside the EU/EEA and provide an individual stipend of €10,000 and full fee waiver to 60 beneficiaries for one full year study on a Bachelor, Master or PhD programme.

Erasmus Mundus Scheme:An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD), is a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions. EMJMDs award EU-funded scholarships to the best student candidates applying under annual selection rounds. Study must take place in at least two of the programme countries. Part of the studies can also take place where there is a partner-country institution involved. An EMJMD is a study programme of 60, 90 or 120 ECTS. This means that it lasts from a minimum of 12 months, to a maximum of 24 months and is open for Master’s students.

Application Deadline at Maynooth University (MU)

While there is no official deadline for applications, courses at Maynooth University (MU) fill up very fast. Typically, applicants may wish to apply by October in the previous year to when they hope to begin their course at MU. eg. If you are planning on a September 2020 start, you should apply by September 2019 preferably.
