Entry Requirements to Study at University Waikato New Zealand

General entry requirements (exact requirements may vary from course to course)

Postgraduate Courses: At least 55 % in Bachelors or CGPA of 5.0 or higher (on a scale of 10). IELTS: 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in the writing module and 5.5 in the others (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score)

Undergraduate Courses (after 12th): Completion of All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) or Indian School Certificate (CISCE) with an average of 75 % Higher Secondary Certificate (State Board) with an average of 80 %. IELTS: 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in the writing module and 5.5 in the others (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score)

MBA program: Bachelor’s degree with three years relevant work experience after graduation (which does not include summer placements, part-time or temporary work experience). IELTS: with no less than 5.5 in the writing module and 5.0 in the others (or equivalent TOEFL or PTE score)

University of Waikato offers a range of scholarships for Indian students. We encourage students to apply for the University of Waikato scholarships as early as possible. Scholarships for Indian/International students:

University of Waikato International Excellence – NZ School Leavers Scholarship – For international students completing Year 13 at a NZ high school in 2019 and intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree at UoW in A Semester 2020. Applicants must achieve at least NCEA Level 3 with Merit (or equivalent).

The Tauranga Bursary – The Bursary is to be offered to students who are enrolling at Waikato University for the first time at the University’s new Tauranga Campus. The bursary is valued at NZD$10,000 and will be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees at the beginning of their University of Waikato studies.

The Master of Engineering Practice Bursary – The Bursary is to be offered to students who are enrolling at Waikato University for the first time in the University’s new Master of Engineering Practice qualification. The bursary is valued at NZD$10,000 and will be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees at the beginning of their University of Waikato studies.

The High Achievement Bursary for International Students – This bursary aims to encourage talented international students at the University of Waikato. The Bursary is open to all international students, enrolling in a full-time undergraduate programme who achieve a B+ grade average over their first 120 points.  The Bursary is valued at NZ$5000 and will be deducted from the full international student fees for the second year of undergraduate study.

University of Waikato, Deadline for Applications:

The application deadline for admissions to the University of Waikato would be 31st January, 31st May and 30th September. ILW India advises students to begin applying at least by 31st May, to allow for the university to assess and complete the paperwork.

Masters level courses at the University of Waikato especially Management, Humanities, Science, Social Sciences etc. are in demand and we suggest you apply at the earliest for these courses.
