Accommodation– On-campus Accommodation
The hostel policy for non-local students varies among institutions. For on-campus accommodation, unless the student opts for a single room, they will be made to share a room with local students or other non-local students of the same gender, as part of our institutions’ efforts to help them make friends and assimilate into university life. In order to save time-money-energy, on-campus accommodation is the best choice. Here, the fee for on-campus living ranges from HK$5,000 to HK$15,000 per semester, which varies from institution to institution. Besides, most hostels do not provide bed sheets and pillows, hence the students have to take care of it.
Food:
Food might be a slight problem but can be overcome in due course specially for vegetarians. One can find a excellent bargain buy or cheap but tasty street food in Hong Kong, famously offered by the once hugely prevalent Dai Pai Dongs. These are open food stalls that tend to have no fixed location, but offer interesting seafood and noodle dishes, amongst other things. Eating out is most certainly an option with the vast selection of restaurants to opt from.
Transport:
Hong Kong’s modern and efficient public transportation system is able to bring you to nearly every corner within the territory, from skyscrapers in central business districts to gathering points of natural hiking trails! A spotless subway system, the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) has 87 stations connecting major population centers, New Territories and even borders connecting to Mainland China; it also provides the fastest ride to and from the airport. Buses zip the length and breadth of the city, some of them for 24 hours a day.
