Tests Required to Study in Germany

Masters in Germany:

 

A GRE / GMAT is NOT mandatory to study MS in Germany. However, a good score in your GRE can add value to your profile.

GRE / GMAT: If you are taking a test, then for technical programmes, you can appear for GRE. A recommended GRE score should be upward of 315.

Mind you, not all Universities will require a GRE. German Universities pay a lot of attention to your academic score. We suggest that you should have a good chance of getting in to a good German University if you have scored at least 67% in your undergraduate studies. Similarly, a CGPA / GPA of 3.2 or higher would be good but you could apply with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

For MS in Germany, management related program eg. MS in Management, you could also appear for a GMAT in stead. You should try and score upward of 600.

German language: German language learning is NOT essential to apply and secure admission to study MS in Germany. However, if you do learn German, then it helps you to interact better with locals, network with more like-minded people and more. Again, when you are searching for part time jobs or full time jobs in Germany, knowledge of German language is always handy

English language test: One of the English tests, ie. either IELTS or TOEFL, is mandatory for all applicants. You could register, prepare and appear for this test in about a month’s time from the time you decide to take one. 2 to 3 IELTS test dates are available each month. MBA in Germany:

GMAT will be required to study MBA in Germany. We recommend a GMAT score of 650 or higher. However, if a you score at least 600 in GMAT, you do stand a chance to apply to several Business Schools in Germany. Please note that there are options to study an MBA in Germany even without a GMAT

German language course: German language is not mandatory to study both, MBA or MS in Germany as the selected programs will all be taught in English language. However, learning basic level A1 / A2 of German language will be extremely beneficial to adjust to the environment, network with more students, and even for part-time jobs. You could also take up the German language course at your University in Germany

Bachelors in Germany:

You could take one of the two acceptable tests by German Institutions.

The Test of German as a Foreign Language (TestDAF), which is held six times a year in test centres throughout the world. You can save yourself time and money by taking the test in your country.

The German Language University Entrance Examination (DSH), which is administered only at German universities and will test your proficiency and suitability for university study.

Generally Indian students go to Germany for an 8 month German Language Program to start with. The language Institute trains students on German Language. It also prepares them for the TestDaf exam and thereafter places them in Universities
